  • Profile

Angelica (Angel) Wawrzynek completed her undergraduate degree in Mathematics at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana in 2006. She then graduated cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2009.

Since graduation, Angel has demonstrated her dedication to the legal profession. She served on the Illinois State Bar Association (“ISBA”) Young Lawyers Division Council from 2010 to 2015, served as the Treasurer/Secretary of the Coles-Cumberland Bar Association from 2011 to 2016, served as the Chair of the 5th Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee from 2013 to 2016, served on the ISBA Board of Governors from 2013 to 2019, and served as Treasurer of the ISBA from 2016 to 2017.

In 2013, Angel was honored with the ISBA Young Lawyer of the Year Award and with the East Central Illinois Women Attorneys Association Award for Service to the Community. In 2016, the Illinois Supreme Court recognized her efforts by appointing Angel to serve as a Director of the Lawyers Trust Fund of Illinois. She was appointed for a second term in 2019.

Angel has always enjoyed working on challenging puzzles and has found success in applying her problem-solving abilities to the legal needs of her clients. She has found this skillset to be of particular use in the area of estate planning, where she helps clients determine which kind of plan will best suit their needs. In addition to preparing wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents, she also assists clients with opening and maintaining guardianships and with administering estates and trusts.

Angel works closely with the personal injury attorneys in the office, assisting their clients with any guardianships, estate administration, or estate planning that might be required. Most firms providing personal injury representation need to refer clients out to obtain assistance with these areas of law. With Angel’s help, The Tapella & Eberspacher Law Firm does it all. Angel can even prepare special needs trusts, which are designed to be able to provide for clients (and family members of clients) who have a disability, without impacting their state and federal benefits.

Angel lives in Mattoon, Illinois with her husband, Brett; their infant son, Emmett; and their cat, Zoey. When not at the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, working in her vegetable garden, cooking, and reading.
